| I've evaluated several different time tracking solutions and it seems that Timeless fits our needs well and is the perfect balance for us of ease of use and capabilities. I'm involved in GUI design and I'd like to congratulate the author on a clean, intuitive and usable design. Questions/comments:
1. I'd like to use Timeless in a networked setting. So far so good. However, I'd also like workers to be able to log their time when disconnected from the network, and then have that information added when they reconnect to the network. Is this possible?
2. Assuming the answer to number 1 is "no", I guess the next best options is VPN or the web product. I am open to suggestions on how others handle this, as we spend a lot of time in the field. Users will be less than 10.
3. Is there a way to create a project template with tasks and apply it again and again? Most of our projects use the same phase breakdown.
4. Isn't there a way to make a project disappear from the tree on the left once it is completed without deleting it? I assumed that was what the "inactive" setting does, but upon marking a project inactive, I don't see any difference in behavior, the project still appears and you can even log time against it. How do others handle this? I want to keep our project list "lean" and not filled with inactive projects, but I also prefer to keep the records for projects.
5. Is there an estimated date for the next version?
6. I'd really like to see the ability to view some additional columns in the Time view, specifically one for activities and one for notes (obviously xx letters from the notes field, not expecting to see and entire note). Our task definitions are sometimes broad, with many additional tasks that we define on a checklist but will not be defining in Timeless, so it would be very nice to be able to see that the broad task is "design" and the activity or note is "xxx", so we can see that part of the task the time was logged against. I realize Timeless allows many levels of tasks, but we prefer not to use it that way.
7. It would also be nice to be able to view others Time, Timesheets etc. without having to run reports. I'd like to see a drop down menu that allows me to filter by user, all users etc.
8. Last but not least, I am mystified that there does not appear to be any way to mark a task complete. All this focus on being able to create multiple task levels, yet no way to mark one complete?
Thank You |

| | Hello David, Here are the answers to your questions. 1. Timeless does not work in a disconnected mode. We are considering that, but it is not currently planned. 2. I would recommend the web version over a VPN. The web version provides more flexibility when a VPN capable pc is not available. 3. You can create a template and copy it by dragging to a new location while holding the Ctrl key down. 4. There is an additional menu item View | Hide inactive that will do this. 5. We are planning late this year or early next. 6. This will be in the next major release. 7. We have been considering this but it will likely not be in the next major release. 8. To mark an item complete, it must be assigned to someone. We realize this can be limiting in some scenarios so the next major release will allow the task to be assigned to 'anyone'. Regards,

| Thanks for the thorough answers Mark.
Even if a task is assigned, it appears I have to open the task, go to the assignments page, click on the person the task is assigned to, and then mark it complete.
1. Is there an easier way to get to that point that I am missing?
2. Is there any way to see if the task is complete without going through all those steps?
Thanks again. |

| David,
When creating an assignment, the user the task is assigned to will have a To Do entry for the assignment. They can easily complete the To Do entry by opening the To Do entry and setting the complete date, or right-clicking on the To Do entry and selecting the Complete menu option.
The easiest way to see the status is to create a Progress report and run it when you want to see the status.

| Since I have only been testing the ap myself and not creating assignments I did not realize that assigned tasks showed up under to-do's ! |

| OK, one final (I hope ) feature request. I would LOVE to be able to schedule a task/to-do to show up on a calendar. In other words, a way for workers to look at a calendar and see that a task must be performed at a specific time such as Friday from 10 AM - 2 PM, as opposed to merely having it done by such and such a date. I'm not looking for any advanced functionality. Simply the ability to set a start and stop time for a task so that it shows up on a calendar in addition to the to-do list. And maybe a little icon next to items on the to-do list so the user can see it is scheduled for a specific time.
Thanks |

| In the current release the user could add a reminder to the To Do entry. While not exactly what your are looking for, it may help.

| Hello,
I recently tried to install the web version. I cannot find a single support document anywhere that explains the setup of the web program (I found a doc about operation, but not setup), nor any explanation of integrating it with the Windows version.
I installed it on Windows 2003 server. Should it not install some files in the start menu? I find nothing to launch it, nor any address to use in my browser in the support literature. I can see the folders installed using IIS. Where do I go from here?
Thanks |

| David,
At the end of the web install, by default it will launch a Timeless Web in a browser window. Unfortunately, the web address used by other machines is somewhat dependent on the existing configuration of the web server on the installation machine. By default it is http://<machinename>/TimelessWeb. But, as I said it may be different depending on your server and network configuration.
Here is a knowledge base article on using it with the Windows version Enterprise Web for Enterprise Windows users . The article is short, but the links in it explain the details.
