I would like the ability to set popup alarms that track accumulated time on any given day, and pop up an alert when that time has expired.

I would like to be able to set independent alarms like this at any level: 'E', 'C'lient, 'P'roject, 'T'ask, etc.

The popup should offer an 'OK' button to close it, but a nice touch would be to also offer a 'Stop Timer' button, the purpose of which I'm sure you guys can guess.

We are starting to narrow the feature list for the next major release.  I will add this to the list of requested enhancments.

So that we can better understand the request, can you give some detail why you need to track accumulated time and how it impacts your business?

Hi,

I've been using daily a competing app called "AllNetic Working Time Tracker" since 2004. Though this app contains several limitations and bugs, it has a *very* useful feature related to the stopwatch: as it's a desktop app (Windows), it detects inactivity on the computer after a certain time (settings configurable), let's say you've been interrupted by a phone call or any event, and has a mechanism to ask the user what he wants to do with the time elapsed since the inactivity was detected (many options offered such as stop the timer at that time, consider the task was still running, affect the elapsed time to another Task, etc.).

This functionality is very usefully as the time affected to a task is much more accurate than clicking manually the stop watch button.
Unfortunately for me, the developers of this app seem to have stopped its development (website not updated, no replies on emails).
Therefore I'm still looking for, on the market, a similar app having especially the described tool. So far, I've not found any.
I'm wondering whether you're planning to add this feature on yours.
Tks.

Chris,
We are considering something like this for the next major release.  However it is too early to say whether it will make it on the final list.  I will add your vote.

I'd also find this handy.  I forget to hit the stop button which is one of the major reasons I enter my time in manually at the end of day rather than use the timers.

Great Idea... Some program I have used does this... Basically is you leave and come back it asks.. what were you doing?.. and what would you like to allocate that time? But it got too complex.

So easy to forget and lose time without this...

Also it would be nice to be able to right-click on a project to make a report.. or better still drag and drop the project to predefined reports in the report pane.

Also.. the time sheet.. why not total to the right also to see the totals for the week for each task/project?

In the bugs department, mine (2.60.12) never remembers to leave the status bar and tool-bar off so I have turn them off everyday..

Rashid,

We just added the total to the timesheet in version 2.60.13. It is now available for download.

Regarding the status and toolbars - it has been like this for as long as I can remember, but no one mentioned it before.  But it really should save the settings, so we corrected it.  This change is also available in 2.60.13.

We will be enhancing reporting in the next major release and will consider your requests.

Mark,

Thanks for the quick fix!.. Another quick question.. suddenly I am regularly getting a request to save my file when it has always autosaved on it's own.. when I say yes it tells me the file is already in use... Maybe after I install the update it will return to normal..

Thanks!

This will usually happen if the file is open in another instance of Timeless Time & Expense, or the data file has been made Read-only.  If the the datafile is stored on the network, this can happen if you no longer have write permissions on the folder or file.
